What are the handrail systems made from?
We get asked are the handrails made of stainless steel? The answer is no, they are made from something better than stainless steel. They are made from anodised aluminium. Stainless steel is correctly named in that it stains less, but anodised aluminium is actually more corrosion-resistant, and that’s why we use it.
Anodised Aluminium
Anodised aluminium is more corrosion-resistant than stainless steel. We have a proprietary finish we call Royal Chrome Anodised, which you see here. This has the clean and sleek look of stainless steel, without the downsides. It requires almost no maintenance, yet keeps its beauty and finish, even in highly corrosive coastal locations.
The Advantages of Anodised Aluminium
- It requires almost no maintenance.
- It keeps its looks even in the salty air of coastal locations.
- It can be formed into different shapes and sections which would be difficult and expensive in stainless steel.
- It has the ability to have a designed handrail shape, for example the Balcony 2 aerofoil profile, which would be very difficult and expensive to form in stainless steel.
That’s why Balconette Systems prefer the flexibility, looks, and longevity of anodised aluminium.
