We know that our systems are well known for their suitability to harsh environments. It is for this reason we must make sure that the colours and options we offer you the customer must be fully suited to stand up to the harshest of conditions and do what we say they do on the tin.
Balustrade installation left to the last moment is not a good idea!
We get some customers coming to us after all, or the majority, of their building work is almost finished wanting to order and install a balustrade. In these cases usually the walls are finished and the waterproofing has already been applied. The repeated request in these cases is “I want to install the balustrade but not fix through the waterproofing” or “We can’t fix to the floor…”.
Glass fencing is getting more and more popular, probably due to our warmer summers and the growing popularity of pools.
Fencing made of glass, is another application for the glass balustrade that is being used more and more in new builds as well as renovation projects. A glass fence is made of toughened glass that is held at the base and often also with a handrail around the top of the balustrade glass.

When spring is in the air there’s nothing lovelier than spending time outside. Hear the birds singing, feel the welcoming warm rays of the sun and see nature spring back into life. Dining outside feels like a real treat at this time of year; whether you’re sitting on the decking for a lazy Saturday morning breakfast, enjoying a quiet cup of tea, or putting on a lunch for the whole family out in the sunshine – al-fresco eating is a delight after the dark days of winter.

The greatest source of free energy that exists on our earth is the power of the sun. Many countries harness that power and use it to their benefit.
Other countries do not have the means or the monetary resources to undertake a capital investment into the technology, for example, many African countries are in this category where the sun shines continually during the day light hours.
Unfortunately, and for many reasons, much of this free energy is currently discarded and we continually burn fossil fuel to heat and light our homes and power our electrical appliances.
There is nothing new about this and PV panels are more and more accessible and are becoming more popular than ever. But a large percentage of PV panels used are additions used solely for this purpose. Meaning they are not integrated into a product which would use glass anyhow.
Large expansive areas of glass on balustrading, balconies and roof terraces can be a valuable source of solar energy if they could be used to house solar panels.

There is some confusion regarding the requirement for a handrail on glass balustrades and glass railings and in order to ascertain this matter we need to get the answer to the following question: What are the legal or regulatory requirements in respect of handrails on glass balustrades? What do Architects and Specifiers Need and Want
What architects don’t need is a headache. They want a company and a product that works well in their design and comes with all the backup and support so it is easily implemented on site. Not all projects and not all clients are the same. Here at Balcony Systems we deal with small, medium and large sized projects. Every project will have a different focus and different weight given to different aspects. Some clients will pivot the project around the cost and yet others will adhere to the design intent and will be willing to put up the required budget to meet their design.

Effi Wolff joined his father’s company in 1993 after his military service. The company had been successfully creating glass banisters and balustrades in Israel since it’s formation in 1984. After eleven years, in 2004, Effi brought the concept to the UK. Bringing innovation to the already popular trend, he was able to bring down the cost per unit, even when making customs sizes and shapes. The company took off and is now the leading UK manufacturer of glass balustrades and Juliet balconies, as well as curved patio doors and windows.
